Below is our interactive club calendar, which shows upcoming events for training courses and trips and expeditions, as well as upcoming social events. For more information on planned events, visit our Trips and Training pages.

We also run regular training sessions throughout the year:

Tuesday Race training – 5:30 pm on the water – all year – Training Coordinator
Thursday evening (April – October) – 5:45 – Touring skills development

Guildford Loop River Trip @ Dapdune Wharf, Guildford

Join Rick Covell, our Paddlesport Leader, for a trip around the Guildford loop on the river Wey and Wey navigation. Your chance to help us plan the river and sea trips that you want for Winter 2019, Spring 2020 and possibly beyond. Come along with ideas for trips you would like like to participate in and/or organise too and we’ll see what we can add to the calendar. We need volunteers to organise trips but you don’t always need to be a coach or leader to do the organising as we can try and help arrange appropriate leading or coaching!! If you can’t make it please email Paul in advance of the meeting with your ideas and offers!

River Hamble touring trip

Sep 20 all-day

Launching from Lower Swanwick a paddle up the picturesque River Hamble to Botley Mill and then to the Horse and Jockey at Curbridge. A good introduction to some gentle tidal water.

The trip distance is approx 8 miles you should be able to paddle at 3mph or better (Mytchett to Ash Lock and back is 6.5 miles to give a clue) You should be able to get back into your kayak with assistance and carry out an assisted rescue

Chris Belton Memorial ‘Sloe Paddle’ @ Canal Centre

‘Sloe Paddle’

27th September 2pm

Anne and Brian are kindly organising the above event in memorial of Chris Belton, one our late and longstanding BCCC members. Chris was very fond of making homebrew wine, in particular sloe wine, gin etc. He was often to be found foraging in the undergrowth for fruits of the countryside. So Brina and Anne proposed that a ‘slow paddle’ would be a fitting memorial to Chris.

Pre- booking is essential. Let Anne and Brian know you are coming as soon as possible

The paddle will start at Colt Hill, more details once you’ve registered and depending on numbers. Paddlers are invited to collect sloes, make sloe gin, sloe jam, sloe sauce, sloe jelly. Later in the year we will have a competition to see who has made the best use of their sloes.

Northampton Active (Nene Whitewater) @ Nene Whitewater Centre

Paul Jeffs is planning this trip to the artificial whitewater course near Northampton. This is suitable for paddlers already paddling whitewater or who have already had an introduction to whitewater. It will be coach-led and we will be adhering to lots of rules the centre are working within, to help keep everyone covid-safe. Paul can only take 5, and you should be able to transport yourself and equipment, he may be able to help with the odd kayak but car sharing is not yet allowed. Please let him know if you want to come – prebooking is mandatory! Nene was one of the UK’s first artificial whitewater courses and gives an opportunity to get paddling again! Whitewater Refresher @ Symonds Yat

A coached refresher at the Yat for paddlers wanting a chance to refresh their skills in a familiar environment. We will be working within the Club and BC COVID-19 guidelines. The location is in Tier 2, so appropriate restrictions apply. Paul can only have 5 as he will be working within the rule of 6. You must be able to transport yourself and equipment, car sharing is not allowed and you must follow club instructions for sanitising any equipment you borrow. We will still have fun. Launching from the Wokingham Water Centre ( or Marsport) heading up the River Thames to the Kennet and Avon. Paddling up the Kennet and Avon though Reading center to Fobney lock If conditions and people are in good form we may continue to the Cunning Man and return. Meander along the Thames from Wargrave through Henley to Hurley. approx 8.5 miles all with the flow. This will be a one way paddle and a shuttle so car sharing to get people and kit in the right place.

Yat Whitewater Fun/Intro/Refresher Day Trip 5 (New re-updated date) @ Symonds Yat

A day trip at the Yat suitable for both youngsters and adults as an intro to white water (must be confident capsizing kayak with a deck), plus experienced paddlers wanting a chance to brush the cobwebs away or refresh their skills in a familiar environment. You will have fun and need to be happy to get very wet.

Hopefully we will be able to run this trip without having to keep to any specific covid guidelines.
