Paul Jeffs is planning this trip to the artificial whitewater course near Northampton. This is suitable for paddlers already paddling whitewater or who have already had an introduction to whitewater. It will be coach-led and we will be adhering to lots of rules the centre are working within, to help keep everyone covid-safe. Paul can only take 5, and you should be able to transport yourself and equipment, he may be able to help with the odd kayak but car sharing is not yet allowed. Please let him know if you want to come – prebooking is mandatory! Nene was one of the UK’s first artificial whitewater courses and gives an opportunity to get paddling again! Held every Remembrance day since 2012 and growing in popularity year on year this is a 15 mile race starting in Great Linford (near Milton Keynes) and finishing at the club;s landing stage.

A coached refresher at the Yat for paddlers wanting a chance to refresh their skills in a familiar environment. We will be working within the Club and BC COVID-19 guidelines. The location is in Tier 2, so appropriate restrictions apply. Paul can only have 5 as he will be working within the rule of 6. You must be able to transport yourself and equipment, car sharing is not allowed and you must follow club instructions for sanitising any equipment you borrow. We will still have fun. You will have fun and need to be happy to get wet.

Launching from the Wokingham Water Centre ( or Marsport) heading up the River Thames to the Kennet and Avon. Paddling up the Kennet and Avon though Reading center to Fobney lock If conditions and people are in good form we may continue to the Cunning Man and return. Meander along the Thames from Wargrave  through Henley to Hurley. approx 8.5 miles all with the flow.  This will be a one way paddle and a shuttle so car sharing to get people and kit in the right place.

Distance approx 8 miles. must be competent in using a spray deck and be able to do an assisted deep water re-entry.

Our first planned grade 2 whitewater day trip down the Barle this season.  This is an ideal follow-on trip for paddlers after the Yat or Shepperton, for anyone wanting to refresh skills, blow the cobwebs away or enjoy a day on the river in fab scenery. After an absence due to Covid, the Charles Hicks Challenge is set to take place again this year.  Watch out for entry notices.  The course will likely be similar to the one in 2019, involving and initial straight run out to Ash lock and back then descending a substantial part of the Deepcut lock flight, involving lots of portage practice, then…ascending a substantial part of the Deepcut lock flight, involving lots more of portage practice!  Great if you are in training for winter endurance racing.

We need people to assist with the organisation of the race:  Race organiser, marshalls, starters, timers, runners, refreshments…the list goes on.  Please get in touch if you want to get involved (or if you don’t want to but can be bullied into it)!

Nice gentle cruise along the across Poole harbour and up the River Frome and return approx 10 mile round trip. let me know if you’re interested

Weekend river trip, choosing the best of South Wales on the day but aiming for one oi the grade 2 or grade 2(3) rivers around Builth Wells – hopefully the Upper Wye and Lower Irfon. Ideal for paddlers who have previously paddled the Barle or The Yat, as well as more experienced paddlers wishing to wash the cobwebs off their paddles.  We will choose the exact river and section depending on paddler abilities, weather and water levels. Rescheduled for just one day: Saturday 11 December now – water/weather dependent of course. We’ll be paddling the River Usk – Grades 2-2(3).  We will choose the exact river and sections depending on paddler abilities, weather and water levels each day although our first choice will be the Sennybridge section..
