A British Canoeing video crew will be onsite on Saturday 7th March to shoot a short profile of our club. This will be shown at the BC awards night, where we will be awarded Volunteers Club of the Year. To make the best impression, we need as many people on the water as possible. Please put this date in your diary and do plan on putting a boat on the water at the club on the 7th. Our award celebrates the breadth of disciplines we offer, so any boat type that you are competent to paddle would be much appreciated. Session organisers… if there is any possibility that you could do a special/extra session on 7th March, that would also be very much appreciated (let me know if you are planning something). Club colours if you possess them would also be highly desirable. 9.30am is our usual start time but feel free to turn up later if that’s more palatable.
If you want to be on the water on the 7th but do not wish to be included in the video, please let me know.

Generally on the sheltered water of the River Wey. There are many portages, so spray decks are not required. The Wey is a winding river and navigation. Very good for tactical racing.
he Richmond Hasler Marathon is held from Ham House Car Park, and not from Richmond Canoe Club due to lack of parking at the club. The river is semi Tidal. Due to the time of year there usually is not much flow. RIC provide safety cover BUT paddlers should be competent at rescuing themselves in moving water. http://www.richmondcanoeclub.com
The B3C Hasler marks the start of the Southern Regional Hasler season after the winter break.
The race is held on the Dart Estuary starting from Totnes Rowing Club. The Estuary is wide and open with gently banking sides. No portages. It will be held at high tide so any flows will be gentle.

The race is a circuit, based on the river Thames alongside Thames Valley Country Park, Reading It is suitable for all levels and includes a portage for higher level races.
he race takes place on the River Itchen which is tidal. Dependant on conditions spray decks and buoyancy aids would be required. The lightning course takes place over a sheltered stretch of water. In past years there hasn’t been a portage. Safety cover is always provided with a number of ribs providing support over the course.
This is a standard Hasler race set on a broad and beautiful stretch of the River Thames. The course (suitable for all paddlers from novice to international) winds from the dreaming spires of Oxford down through the gentle rolling countryside of Oxfordshire, and back to the start. Spectators can stroll along the towpath – taking in the race, the punts the occasional pleasure cruiser and our world-famous rowers.
