An introduction to forms of Kayaking (and potentially Canoeing). Sessions will include getting on and off the water safely, moving the boat in a straight line and lots of games. The aim is to give you a introduction to the sport using the British Canoeing Start award (see https://www.britishcanoeingawarding.org.uk/new-personal-performance-awards/ for details) giving you a good overview of the sport. Sessions will be approximately 45 minutes on the water. When you register, we’ll email you with further details.

After an absence due to Covid, the Charles Hicks Challenge is set to take place again this year. Watch out for entry notices. The course will likely be similar to the one in 2019, involving and initial straight run out to Ash lock and back then descending a substantial part of the Deepcut lock flight, involving lots of portage practice, then…ascending a substantial part of the Deepcut lock flight, involving lots more of portage practice!
